This policy explains what information this website collects, why, and what your rights are under UK data protection law (the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018).
Who is responsible
This website is run on behalf of the author Harry Black. You can reach us about anything in this policy through the contact page.
What we collect
Contact form. If you send a message, we receive your name, email address, subject and message. We use these only to read and reply to your enquiry. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in answering correspondence.
Server logs. Like most websites, our hosting provider may keep standard technical logs (such as IP address, browser type and pages requested) for security and to keep the site running.
We do not run advertising, analytics or tracking scripts, and we do not build profiles of visitors.
Cookies
The contact page sets one essential cookie, hb_session, which protects the form against forgery and spam. It contains no personal information and is deleted when you close your browser. No other page sets cookies.
Third parties
Google Fonts. The typefaces on this site are loaded from Google’s servers, which receive your IP address when fonts are requested.
Amazon. Buy and preorder buttons take you to Amazon. Once you are on Amazon’s website, its own privacy policy applies.
How long we keep information
Messages are kept only for as long as needed to deal with your enquiry and any follow-up, and are then deleted. We do not share or sell your details, or add them to any mailing list.
Your rights
You can ask to see the information we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, or to object to how it is used. To do so, please use the contact page. If you are unhappy with how your information has been handled, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
